This Privacy Policy explains how LoveJoy (“LoveJoy,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use the LoveJoy mobile application and related services (the “Service”). By using LoveJoy, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect
Information you give us
- Account information — when you sign up, including through Sign in with Apple, we receive identifiers such as your name and email address (or the private relay email Apple provides if you choose to hide your address).
- Profile information — your date of birth or age, photos, bio, gender, who you’re interested in, and other details you choose to add to your profile.
- Content you create — messages you send in chat, date ratings and feedback you submit, and reports you file about other users.
- Support communications — information you provide when you contact us for help.
Information we collect automatically
- Device and technical data — device type, operating system version, app version, and unique device identifiers used to deliver notifications.
- Usage data — how you interact with the Service, such as swipes, matches, and features you use, to operate and improve the app.
- Location — if you grant permission, we use your approximate or precise location to show you nearby people and relevant matches. You can turn this off at any time in your device settings.
- Push notification tokens — an identifier from Apple Push Notification service so we can send you alerts about new matches and messages.
Information from third parties
- Apple — when you use Sign in with Apple, Apple shares the account identifiers described above. When you purchase a subscription, Apple confirms your purchase and renewal status; we never receive your full payment-card details.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account and profile.
- To operate core features — showing you potential matches, enabling chat, and powering date ratings and badges.
- To send you notifications about new matches, messages, and account activity.
- To process subscriptions and confirm your premium status.
- To keep the community safe — reviewing reports, detecting abuse, enforcing our Terms, and removing prohibited content or users.
- To provide customer support and respond to your requests.
- To comply with legal obligations and protect the rights, safety, and property of our users and LoveJoy.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in these limited ways:
- With other users — your profile, photos, and the content you choose to share are visible to other members, as described in the next section.
- With service providers who operate the app on our behalf, including:
- Supabase — secure database, authentication, file storage, and real-time messaging infrastructure.
- RevenueCat — management of in-app subscriptions and entitlements.
- Apple — Sign in with Apple, push notification delivery, and App Store payment processing.
- For legal and safety reasons — when we believe disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with the law, enforce our Terms, or protect the safety of any person.
- In a business transfer — if LoveJoy is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
4. What Other Users Can See
LoveJoy is a social product, so some information is meant to be seen by others. Your profile photos, first name, age, bio, and similar details are visible to other members you may match with. Messages you send are visible to the people you send them to. Please only share information you are comfortable making visible to other users. Even though we provide reporting and blocking tools, we cannot control how other users may use or store information you share with them.
5. Your Choices & Rights
- Access and update — you can review and edit your profile information at any time in the app.
- Location — you can enable or disable location access in your device settings.
- Notifications — you can manage push notifications in your device settings.
- Regional rights — depending on where you live (for example, the EEA, the UK, or California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal information, and to request a copy of it. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below. We will not discriminate against you for exercising them.
6. Deleting Your Account
You can delete your account and associated personal data directly within the app, in your profile settings. When you delete your account, we remove your profile and personal information from active systems, except for limited information we are required to keep for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes, or that has been de-identified. You may also request deletion by emailing us at the address in the Contact section.
7. Data Retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. After you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, unless we are required to retain it to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
8. Security
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and row-level security on our database. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please use a strong, unique sign-in method and keep your device secure.
9. Age Requirement
LoveJoy is intended only for adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to create an account or collect personal information from them. If we learn that we have collected information from a person under 18, we will delete it and terminate the account. If you believe a minor is using LoveJoy, please contact us immediately.
10. International Users
LoveJoy is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate, which may have data-protection laws different from those in your country.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
