Why we built LoveJoy
Modern dating apps reward swiping. We wanted something that rewards reflection — the slow, quiet work that actually makes love last.
A different starting point
Most dating apps are slot machines. Match, swipe, match, swipe — a dopamine drip that rarely turns into a relationship, and almost never into one you can keep.
We started LoveJoy from the opposite question: what if the app helped you become a better dater, not just a busier one?
Reflection as a feature
After every real date, LoveJoy invites you to rate the experience across ten dimensions — chemistry, conversation, kindness, curiosity, and so on. Over time, your ratings become a quiet mirror. You start to see patterns: who you click with, what you keep ignoring, what you keep coming back to.
The point isn't to judge people. It's to know yourself better.
What comes next
This blog will be where we share what we learn — from product notes to the research behind the ratings to the occasional essay on love. We hope you'll read along.
